Variety is the spice of life

As I slowly and awkwardly unpack and tidy up after our return home, blog inspiration appears to have gone missing en route from Scotland. However, in her recent comment my blog friend Dancing Beastie mentioned how much she’d enjoyed the contrasting musical items in my last two posts. To cheer us all up in the current miserable weather, I can’t resist sharing a very different seasonal offering by a group of American high school students, which has just been brought to my attention by Annieanother blog friend, and which had me wiping tears of laughter from my eyes. Enjoy….

Oh my goodness that was just soooooo joyous!!! Glad you are home safe and only in time as we up here are being buffeted already with over 100mph winds... much more than the 'amber' warning would have us believe.... nice and cosy in here though... YAM xx

    1. Wasn't it just, Yam! Yes we made it back just in time and had a really smooth and trouble-free journey. I gather that the weather is even worse for you today and I hope you are safely and warmly indoors until it improves.

  3. Dear Perpetua - glad you are safely returned to Wales.
Love the video, the students are so slick, I wonder how much time was spent rehearsing. I particularly loved the characters (unseen) lying on the floor behind number one and number three on the lefthandside.

    1. Thanks, Rosemary. It's good to be home after an excellent, if very long journey. I'm glad you enjoyed this super video and it was very eagle-eyed of you to notice the hidden helpers which I completely missed first time through. Such a clever and well-presented item.

    1. I take it you enjoyed the video, Tim. ;-) I've watched it several times now and still laugh out loud, but my sides remain unsplit. I'm doing very little, I promise, and thankfully don't have to worry at all about the festivities, which will be taken care of by DS and his wife at Christmas and DD and her husband at New Year.

    1. I think it's wonderful, Penny, and you obviously agree. An inspired idea, beautifully executed. It must be very memorable for the youngsters concerned.

  7. What fun and how incredibly clever and innovative, Perpetua. It puts a Christmas smile on our faces.
Glad you are safely back home, and do take care of that wrist, so difficult at this time of year, I know. Christmas blessings.

    1. My thoughts exactly, Patricia, and I've really enjoyed sharing it. It well deserves its YouTube popularity.
We're both glad to be back before this week's awful weather and I'm being extremely careful with my wrist now I'm home. Thankfully we're visiting the family for the festivities. so I really don't need to do much in the way of preparation.

Do be patient and look after that wrist - though it must be so frustrating
I did enjoy the video - at last, something new for the season.

    1. The curse of Blogger obviously struck again, Helen. I promise I'm being patient, though It doesn't come easily to me, but I'm helped by the knowledge that the family are taking care of almost all the festive preparations.
The video has had a huge number of views on YouTube, but was completely new to me and I loved it.

  10. That was fun to watch. I don’t know how they don’t get all mixed up with their boards. Also, it was nice to see the words – as I never could understand this song before, as the English was too hard to distinguish.

    1. I think they did a lot of careful rehearsing, Vagabonde, as well as taking a few glances at their neighbours. :-) I grew up hearing and singing the Hallelujah Chorus every year, so the words are imprinted on my memory, but if you didn't, it would indeed be hard to distinguish them as you say.

  11. I love that! It made me laugh. Those kids are pretty clever, I don't know if I could do it right. I hope your wrist is doing better.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Jennifer. The students certainly worked hard to get it to run so smoothly, but I imagine they had a lot of fun doing it. My wrist is improving, thanks, but I still have to be careful.

    1. Please, MM, I'm being good, really I am. I try to keep that hand in my pocket so that I can't be tempted to use it. Glad the video brightens your morning. Hugs right back at you.

  13. Thinking of you. Hope you're 'setted' back now and the healing of the wrist is progressing well.
The video is amusing. I admire the co-ordination needed in order that the performance goes smoothly. Quite a work-out too! Hope you're not tempted to do the same at the moment!

    1. Thanks, Linda. Yes, er're safely back home and the wrist is improving gradually, though I still mustn't use that hand,
The video is great fun and the students must have worked very hard. I have to do exercises for my left arm, rather like their action, but definitely not holding anything.

  14. Dear Perpetua, thanks so much for that entertaining and delightful video. With your "bone" woes I'm sure you won't be attempting any such rendition of the Hallelujah chorus. And yet, from the brief notes you leave on Facebook, I know that you are enjoying the Advent season and entering the time of Christmas joy with mince pies and friends over and an appreciation of and gratitude for your life. Peace.

    1. Glad to oblige, DB. :) It was totally new to me and I love it too. My brain just isn't up to long, thoughtful posts at the moment, so music is being called on to fill the gap.
