Wedding anniversary blues

…..blue skies, that is. J Just to prove that sometimes – OK, very occasionally – the weather in the far north of Scotland can be so much better than the weather further south, here are a couple of photos taken on my way back from church this morning. Apologies to all those awash with excess rain in a time of drought, but sometimes even the best of us can’t help gloating a little.

DH and I have been busy celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary today, but tomorrow I’ll be back with the first part of my wonderful trip to the Orkneys. Watch this space....

    1. Thanks, Jean. The weather was indeed a bonus, though a slightly guilty one when the rest of the country is so very sodden. We're now hoping that all is well at home in Wales after the rain and gales.

    1. Thanks, Fly. It's hard to believe it's been so long until I look back at the photos of those two very young people. We've been lucky to have much more sun than rain.

    1. Thanks, CB. It did make it special to have such very blue skies. Sorry to rub it in after reading your account of the second Fludde. It sounded like fishing waders might be more use than wellies....:-)

  7. Happy Anniversary to you both - apparently there is no stone for the 44th but next year you can look forward to a sapphire.

    1. Thanks, Rosemary. Do you know, it didn't even occur to me to check whether there's a special item for 44, but sapphires for 45 sounds good. My engagement and eternity rings are sapphire and diamond, so i'd better start dropping some hints.... :-)

    1. Thanks, Janice. As I said to Niall and Antoinette, we'd thought about combining our wedding with my birthday, but decided against it. This way DH has two dates to forget or mix up every year, but we also get to celebrate twice. :-)

  14. Hello Perpetua - it must be something you are doing that makes the sun shine down on you whilst the rest of us (even here in Spain) are being rained on. Nice blue skies ordered specially for your anniversary - lovely!! Congratulations. Looking forward to your Orkney post.

    1. Thanks, Annie. It was amazing to watch the weather forecast for today and see most of Scotland shown bathed in sunshine while the rest of the country was almost swamped by the downpours. I gather that it is just as wet and windy further south in Europe. Let's hope things improve very soon.

    1. Thanks, Rubye. I find it hard to believe myself sometimes, not least because all those years seem to have passed so quickly. I have to look in the mirror to remind myself that I am indeed old enough to have been married for 44 years.

  17. Happy Anniversary Perpetua to both you & DH. I can gloat a little too as it was bright sunshine & 30 degrees in Prague yesterday & the first Sunday of 2012 when we didn't use the 'limited heating' in Church. It was still inevitably warmer outside than inside the building!

Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to your post & photos of your Orkney trip.

    1. Thanks, Ricky. Glad to hear that Prague is enjoying real Spring at last. I can well identify with the 'warmer outside than inside' experience, as all my old churches used to be the same. :-) Orkney post on its way....
